IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) is a premier autonomous organization in India which provides human resource management, recruitment and selection of candidates for numerous public sector banks. It’s mission is to assess eligible candidates for bank job recruitment through different national-wide examinations.
IBPS CWE (Common Written Examination) is the examination conducted by this organization every year to recruit skilled personnel for different posts like Clerical, Probationary Officers (P.Os), Special Officers, R.R.Bs and Assistants in major public sector banks. There are three phases in the recruitment process.Written examination, personal interview and placement. You must qualify in all the three phases for posting.
The first phase of the recruitment process consists of a written examination called IBPS CWE. It is one of the most competitive examinations in India with over 20 lakh applicants each year and a success ratio of 1:1000. Different types of examinations are held for different posts in the participating banks.
CWE Specialist Officer: Law, Marketing, Information Technology personnel
CWE Clerical: Clerks and Clerical Assistants
CWE PO/MT: Probationary Officers and Management Trainees
CWE – RRB: Officers and Assistants in Regional Rural Banks.
How to Apply
You need to apply online before the deadline of the specific exam. Follow the instructions below.
- First go to the official website www.ibps.in.
- On the left-side bar of the page, you can find links for different CWE exams.
- Click on the examination you wish to apply for.
- Click on the ‘Click here to view advertisement‘ link for eligibility criteria, important dates, e.t.c.
- Click on the ‘Click here to Apply Online for ..’ link and register.
- After filling the details, you can pay the application fee through net banking / cards.
Previously, individual banks were responsible for the interview process but from 2014, IBPS introduced a new phase called Common Interview (CI). In this phase, Institute of Banking Personnel Selection arranges a common interview for the CWE Qualified candidates and final selection will be held based on the merit list.
Merit list will be prepared based on both written examination marks as well as interview marks. Candidates will be recruited according to their ranks in the merit list until all the vacancies are filled upto a period of 1 year.
